Settling in Nicely

Hello Friends!

I’m very happy to report that I found a wonderful house south of Dublin in Dún Laoghaire/Monkstown that I’m sharing with one of the people in my cohort and a young researcher in the Neuroscience Department at Trinity. I feel very lucky!

Here’s the address if you care to write an old-fashioned card or letter:

14 Mounttown Villas

Monkstown, Co. Dublin

A96 HY43

IRELAND

I don’t mind the commute to Trinity because I get to take the DART train which runs along Dublin Bay. The sea has a different mood every day. Here is a 10-second video which will give you a taste of it. Turn on your audio to hear the recorded announcement say "Seachain an bhearna le bhur dtoil. Please mind the gap". Pretty much everything in the transit system is in Irish and English.

Fellowship News!

The offical announcement was finally made about our cohort!

Click the image above to learn more about the very inspiring people I will get to learn with, and from, this year. I already love all these folks.

Here are some of the classes I have already had:

  • Intro to Health Economics and Health Policy

  • What is “Brain Health”?

  • Introduction to Brain Health Diplomacy

  • Introduction to the “Exposome” as a Measure of Threats to Brain Health

    • You may well wonder, what is the "exposome". The exposome refers to the totality of environmental, social, and biological exposures accumulated over a lifetime.

Besides articles about health economics and research papers about the exposome, here are some other things I read that made me smile.

Just when homesickness was about to get the better of me, my husband, Craig, and younger son, Penn, visited last weekend to kick off a trip to Europe. What a relief it was to see them!

Please feel free to leave a comment, or ask a question.

It’s nice to have this non-algorithmic, uncommodified place to share what I’ve been up to.
